What this site is
The Centre for Digital Consumers runs this site to help people deal with digital products and services. Everything on it is free to read and use, and no account is needed.
What is read here is general information, written to be useful to as many people as possible. It is not legal, financial or other professional advice, and it cannot cover every situation. Anything important should be checked against a reader’s own circumstances before acting on it.
The free tools
The tools are free and work without an account. Most run in the browser without storing what is entered. The tools are kept accurate and current, but a tool cannot know a reader’s exact situation, so what it says is a helpful starting point rather than a final answer.
The chat assistant sends messages to an AI service, as the privacy policy explains. People are asked not to enter personal details.
Using the content
The site’s words and images are published under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 licence. The content may be copied, shared, translated and adapted for any purpose, including commercially. Anyone who reuses it has to credit The Centre for Digital Consumers, link to the licence and say whether anything was changed.
The name, logo and code are not covered by that licence. The name or logo must not be used in a way that suggests the site wrote something it did not, or that it endorses the reuser.
Which law applies
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and any dispute about them falls to the courts of England and Wales.
If these terms change, this page is updated.
